Join the pioneering agricultural educator Allen Williams for a field day out on two farms in Hoosick Falls NY. Allen is a leading voice in the regenerative agriculture movement, which focuses on the interconnected relationship between soil, crop, and livestock health that is based on the adaptation of natural ecosystem functions for agricultural systems.
This field day is farmer-focused! We encourage anyone working the land to attend no matter your experience with regenerative agricultural practices on your farm. Whether you’re a committed regenerative farmer or just interested in learning more, there’s bound to be something valuable here. While any farm operation can benefit from this field day, livestock, dairy, hay and field crop farmers will be of particular interest for this field day.
This field day is being run in conjunction with a showing of the documentary Roots so Deep the evening prior at the Hoosick Falls High School Auditorium. Allen Williams features in this documentary series and will be part of our Q&A panel following the showing. The cost for the field day is $50 and includes coffee and doughnuts in the morning, lunch, and hours of on-the-ground education. The event will happen rain or shine, so please come dressed for the weather.
Allen Williams is a 6th generation family farmer and founding partner of Understanding Ag, LLC, the Soil Health Academy, and Regenified, LLC. He has consulted with thousands of farmers and ranchers in the U.S. and 45+ other countries, on operations ranging from a few acres to over 2 million acres.
Allen pioneered many of the early regenerative grazing protocols and forage finishing techniques and now teaches those practices and principles to farmers globally. He is a “recovering academic”, having served 15 years on the faculty at Louisiana Tech University and Mississippi State University. He holds a B.S. and M.S. in Animal Science from Clemson University and a Ph.D. in Genetics & Physiology from LSU. He has authored more than 400 scientific and popular press articles, and is an invited speaker at regional, national, and international conferences and symposia.
He has been featured in several of the Carbon Nation film series, "Soil Carbon Cowboys", the Roots So Deep documentary series (Roots So Deep Documentary | Regenerative Farming And Climate), World Without Cows (Home - World Without Cows), the Dr. Oz show, ABC Food Forecast News, in A Regenerative Secret, the Farmer’s Footprint film series, the Sacred Cow film series, and TedX Boston (First, heal the soil | Allen Williams | TEDxBoston (youtube.com). He co-authored a book with Teddy Gentry, “Before You Have A Cow”. Allen is a regular contributor to several leading industry publications.
