How to Apply for Ag Assessment & Determine Rental Rates
Date: January 31, 2024
Time: 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
Place: Zoom

Join ASA for an informative virtual meeting where you can discover the steps to collaborate with your local Soil and Water Conservation District and Town Assessor in the pursuit of an agricultural assessment for your farmland. Our esteemed presenters include:

  • Laura Bornt, Rensselaer County Soil and Water Conservation District
  • Bobbi Stone, Towns of Pittstown, Sand Lake and Whitehall Assessor
  • Stephen Hadcock, Cornell Cooperative Extension, Ag. Entrepreneurship and Market Development

During the session, we will delve into the concept of agricultural assessment—a strategic plan to determine eligibility for a tax exemption on farmland engaged in agricultural production. Learn about the crucial submission deadline of March 1st each year to your local town assessor. The Agricultural Districts Law facilitates reduced property taxes for agricultural land by capping the property tax assessment based on its designated agricultural assessment value. Don't miss this opportunity to gain insights into navigating the process and understanding considerations for establishing a rental rate for agricultural lands. For questions, please contact Janet Britt at (518) 692-7285 or janet@agstewardship.org

The zoom meeting link will be emailed to all registrants.
