Time: 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
Place: Zoom (link sent the day prior)
You’ve got the farming bug, taken classes, and perhaps have on-farm experience. You are ready to start your own farming enterprise but are unsure of where to begin. Making that first contact when looking for funding to buy land or jump-start a business can be daunting for many new farmers. This virtual meeting will provide a friendly introduction to the resources and programs designed for new farmers by the USDA’s Farm Service Agency, Farm Credit East, the Hudson Valley AgriBusiness Development Corporation and Iroquois Valley Farms.
Please join us for a virtual meeting on Wednesday, March 9th from 6:30-8:00 p.m. to hear from;
- Meghan Coldwell, Credit Representative at Farm Credit East, Greenwich, NY
- Peter Elmer, Farm Loan Manager, USDA Farm Service Agency, Greenwich NY
- Mary Ann Johnson, Deputy Director, Hudson Valley AgriBusiness Development Corporation
- Raya Carr, New England Regional Relationship Manager, Iroquois Valley Farms
Our presenters will give an overview of their programs for new farmers, and what to expect when you contact them. There will also be plenty of time for your questions. The goal is for participants to gain knowledge on options for financing and other resources and to feel confident in reaching out to these organizations to investigate further.
The program is hosted by the Agricultural Stewardship Association. The program is free, but registration is required. For questions, please email Janet@agstewardship.org. The zoom link will be sent to all registrants the day before the meeting.
This program is supported by Farmland for a New Generation New York, in partnership with American Farmland Trust and the Department of Agriculture and Markets with funding from the State of New York.
