Camp Notes - Get Ready...

farms food and photography camp

Get set...Go! Tomorrow is the first day of ASA's Farms, Food and Photography Camp. Follow all the action here on ASA's new blog in our "Camp Notes" series where we will post about what we are up to as we learn about photography, visit local farms and cook the food we harvest in the kitchen with teens!

The fabulous Ellie Markovitch of will lead the camp. Ellie is a talented photographer and member of the Chefs Consortium. Ellie received her MFA in Electronic Arts from the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and describes herself as a multimedia storyteller, using food as a starting point for conversations. "My journey started when I realized food and cameras are at the center of my life and art," says Ellie. "Food and cameras are the tools I use to communicate and build interpersonal connections and community."

Holly Rippon-Butler, ASA's Outreach and Communications Intern, will also provide assistance during the camp. Holly is a graduate student studying sustainable land use and agriculture and lives on her family's dairy farm in Saratoga County where she milks cows, feeds calves and takes pictures of them whenever she can! (You can see some of them here).

Check out our Facebook page for more photos from the camp! Be sure to join us for the opening reception of the kids' photos. You can read more about The Arts Center on their website.
